Akinade Oduntan, a Nigerian-Canadian and the Special Assistant and Advisor to a Member of Parliament in the Canadian Parliament, has been honored with the prestigious role of Mayor’s Brampton Business Ambassador. This appointment, endorsed by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, solidifies Oduntan’s position as a prominent leader within the Black Canadians community.
Renowned for his distinguished community service, Oduntan has received accolades and recognition in Canada for his outstanding contributions over the years. His responsibilities as Mayor’s Brampton Business Ambassador include spearheading initiatives to attract investors, businesses, and investments from African countries into the City of Brampton. Additionally, he will serve as a spokesperson, advocating for the city’s interests.
‘Akin,’ as he is popularly called, is not only an Advisory Committee member to the Mayor of Brampton, representing the Black community, but also holds a position on the Advisory Committee of Brampton Transit. Actively engaged in professional and community groups, he contributes to the Peel Police Chief’s Resource Council and has received several awards, including “Men of Excellence and Quality Men in Politics” from various Canadian organizations.
His diverse background encompasses roles such as Public Relations Officer of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), Lagos State chapter. With academic achievements, including a degree in Pharmacology/Physiology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology in Canada, Oduntan possesses over 30 years of leadership experience.
As the Principal Consultant/CEO of Dattab Global International, Nigeria, a consulting firm specializing in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices, he provided consultancy services to multinational companies in Nigeria. Oduntan expressed his excitement about the appointment, emphasizing its potential to enhance bilateral business relationships between Nigeria and Canada while fostering inter-racial harmony.
